Baltimore, MD – Rivers & Roads Consulting has been selected by Preservation Maryland to develop a suite of engaging, accessible training videos focused on historic preservation, heritage tourism, and smart growth. Produced in collaboration with National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways, the series will support gateway communities across the Chesapeake Bay region as they work to interpret historic sites, secure preservation funding, and grow more sustainably.
The contract—awarded through a competitive RFP process—builds on Rivers & Roads’ expanding portfolio of public sector storytelling and technical training. The firm’s team, led by project strategist Sam Shoge and communications expert Margaret Knudsen, will partner with W Films to deliver three to four professional-grade video modules. Each video will combine expert narration, on-location footage, motion graphics, and full accessibility features to ensure broad usability across diverse audiences.
“This project is about more than just training—it’s about inspiring action,” said Shoge. “We’re excited to help equip leaders and communities with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to reimagine what preservation can look like in the 21st century.”
The new series will complement existing efforts like Rivers & Roads’ Main Street Mastery training platform and will be made available to participants in the Chesapeake Gateways Communities Initiative through an online learning system.
